Exciting news

Dear friends, colleagues, and supporters, I have some exciting news to share. I’ve finally decided to take everything I have learned as a game designer, visual effects artist, programmer, and storyteller over the past 20 years of my career and call the shots on my own original game and IP under a new independent studio, Terabbit Studios.

I’m thankful for all I have learned over those years working for some genuinely visionary leaders in the industry. I wouldn’t have had a shot if it hadn’t been for them, and it has been a rewarding experience. But I have reached a point where I must break free. This is the only way to ensure my own original ideas can flourish without constraint. In other words, I will be my own boss and hold myself to the standards I’ve always expected from my stories and ideas.

I’ve had many years to learn from my mentors and peers in this industry. I’ve had dozens of fresh and new ideas rolling around in my head, just waiting for their chance to make it to market, and I’m ready to put my time and money where my mouth is and be the captain of my own ship. I have also been fortunate to have made some fantastic industry friends and connections, many of whom I have spoken to and who will fully support and follow me as I embark on my new adventure. I’ve always maintained that this industry runs on our positive connections with peers and players. That level of goodwill cannot be overstated, and I hope to continue nurturing that goodwill.

Introducing Terabbit Studios

This name had been floating around in my head ever since 2013. It’s the perfect play on words: A terabit is a lot of data (or bandwidth, depending on how you look at it). A terabit is 1,000 gigabits, which is very fast when discussing internet bandwidth. A rabbit is also speedy, and I love rabbits. Therefore, I combined the two words to form ‘Terabbit.’

You may also follow Terabbit Studios on your platform of choice: BlueSky, YouTube, Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram.

My goal will be to continue to grow the studio so others may join us aboard the ship as we set sail on new adventures. Anybody who has ever worked with me knows I don’t do anything half-baked. I bring a dedication to the ideas and visions I am passionate about that elevate things to an almost stratospheric level. Still, I also do so by leading by example and not delegating, and I always give due credit to those who rise to a challenge alongside me. I also greatly respect and appreciate those who continue to teach me. I have always believed that if you are a product of your environment, you surround yourself with the best.

But let’s talk about the new game, ‘The Last Ark’! I’m incredibly excited about the project and know it will give players a fresh approach to the narrative adventure/thriller genre. There is a page dedicated to The Last Ark, where you can read all the details. Thus far, I have locked in some fantastic voice talent, who have been featured in other noteworthy titles and massively popular IPs and franchises.

My continued involvement in Tex Murphy

Some folks might be asking what this means for the future of Tex Murphy projects, including the Pandora Directive Remaster. Until now, I have been dedicated to doing my part in that project in my spare time. These tasks include remastering the full motion video from the original tapes, redesigning the game environments, remastering the sound and music, and modernizing the game design. For the most part, those tasks have been conquered, and the logical next step would be to get the band back together again to march the project towards the finish line. However, that will require more than a part-time, passion project level of dedication. The entire team will need to be back on board 100%. Anything else would disrespect both the project’s contributors and critical stakeholders. Not everybody is available or willing to commit to this right now. However, many of us who still want to complete this project will remain on standby until the entire team is ready to engage and support it together.

I guess the only thing remaining left to say is, welcome to Terabbit Studios!
